Hansa Yogendra is a distinguished Indian yoga guru, author, researcher, and television personality. She serves as the director of The Yoga Institute, located in Mumbai, which was founded by her father-in-law, Shri Yogendra. Established in 1918, The Yoga Institute is the world's oldest organized yoga center.
Hansa Yogendra was born into a Jain family. She completed her bachelor's degree in Science from Mithibai College in Mumbai and later underwent yoga teacher training at The Yoga Institute. In addition, she pursued a law degree from Government Law College in Mumbai and earned a Ph.D. from Open International University in 2018.
Hansa Yogendra has made significant contributions to the fields of yoga and education. She has assisted the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in preparing the yoga curriculum for Indian schools. Her expertise in yoga has taken her to numerous countries, including Canada, Pakistan, Europe, Hong Kong, Australia, and the USA, where she has conducted lectures and seminars.
In 2019, her book Yoga for All was launched by Maharashtra's Governor, C. Vidyasagar Rao. The book is based on a century of research conducted at the Yoga Institute.
In 1973, Hansa Yogendra married Jayadev Yogendra, the son of Shri Yogendra, the founder of The Yoga Institute.
